"I was referred by my parents to use a home inspector for the purchase of an apartment located in SOHO. At the time, I wondered why I would need a home inspector considering the fact that the apartment building was relatively new and it was located on the 5th floor. Nonetheless, I had obeyed my parents’ directions and set up an appointment via email.  The company email quickly responded and we were able to set up an appointment one week in advance. On the day of the appointment, we met in front of the lobby and went to the apartment unit. Kevin was kind enough to ask me if I had any particular concerns with respect to the unit. To sum it up, Kevin was extremely efficient, thorough and able to answer all my questions."

"It was pure coincidence that both of my friends gave me the same number but then when I  realized that the referral that my real estate agent gave me was the same one, I figured, this home inspector must have done quite a few inspections, so I punched the phone number in my cell and called. It rang three times and a secretary or assistant picked up the phone. I had booked the inspection two days from now at 3 pm on a Sunday. Sure enough, Kevin, one of the home inspectors, showed up around 3:07 pm and walked me through the whole house from bottom to top. Additionally, he was able to send me two reports, one which is Home Inspection Report, the second, a Termite Inspection Report within 24 hours. Turns out, they work 7 days a week! I was able to book an inspection, receive the reports, and sign the contract because of the expedient service in under a week!"

"I was scheduled for a 6,000 sq ft contemporary that was off the LIE in Bayside at 9:30 am. Being that I’m usually punctual, I happened to show up around 9:10 am and started walking around the outside of the house just to see if I myself could spot any problems to see if the home inspector would also spot it later on. It was around 9:25 when the real estate agent showed up to open up the vacant house.
As soon as she opened the front door, I could hear huge amounts of water spew and spurt through every part of the house. I took one quick look inside and hurried out. I immediately called the office to ask where the home inspector was. The office assistant quickly called back and responded that the inspector, Kevin would arrive at 9:30 am. He pulled up to the front of the house right at 9:30. He got out of the car and promptly asked me where the leak was. I assumed the office assistant briefed him about the fact that I had mentioned that the house was leaking. I merely pointed at the house and when he asked me to show him I just shook my head and planted my feet on the ground. He swiftly walked up the front entrance steps and opened the door and walked right in closing the door behind him. He came out 5 minutes later looking like he just came out of a water park and explained to me what happened.
Kevin said, “The house was vacant, therefore, the temperature setting was set to a tied schedule. The house has a Central A/C system which included two separate compressors. (so you can imagine how big this house is) One of the air handlers was located in the basement. The other air handler is located directly above the 2nd floor bathroom in the attic space. As I stepped through the front door of the house, I saw water pouring through every single possible crevice and floorboard of the 2nd floor, coming down hard right to the 1st floor living room through the flooring or the 2nd floor staircase. I immediately started heading down to the basement because at this moment, I still didn’t know what the origin of the leak was. The reason why I headed immediately headed to the basement was to find the water main shut off and stop the water supply.
As I headed down the basement stairs, I realized that there was about 6 inches of clean water that had filled up the 5,500 sq ft of basement. (you could probably figure that this leak had been happening for hours) I quickly found the water main shut off and shut off the water supply. Then, I shut off the boiler in the basement and immediately headed upwards. I traced the water leak and found that the leak was occurring right above the 2nd floor bathroom ceiling which was positioned closest to the 2nd floor staircase. I found the 2nd floor thermostat and immediately found that the setting was set to a timed program, which I immediately shut off. Then, I found the hatch door to the attic, opened it up, climbed up to the attic and crawled to the area that was housing the air handler which was located immediately above the 2nd floor bathroom ceiling and found that the copper pipes which is responsible for transporting the water supply to the air handler wasn’t fully insulated and due to the extremely cold temperatures of an attic space in the New York winter, the pipes had burst.”
Kevin was able to identify all the stopping measures required, identify the origin of the problem, and shut down the problem systemically in 5 minutes. He is professional, methodical and legit. I didn’t end up buying the house for obvious reasons but Kevin was also able to accurately detail to me why we saw the scenario today. Even though I didn’t ask for the home inspection considering the state of the house, all he asked for was a transportation fee, (it’s $130, a fair trade off compared to having to perform some $60,000 in renovations due to the contractor’s negligence of not snapping on the extra insulation on the copper piping of the air handler). He even took the time to explain what his findings were to the agent to which she was thoroughly impressed at how efficient he was. As I continued on in searching for the right home for my family and I, we kept Kevin’s contact in our phones because we know that he has seen many different types of situations. After having him inspect three more properties, we were able to find the one we wanted. As luck would have it, we did get an acceptance on the offer we put out for our dream home. We need an inspector who is a veteran in the field, not the inspector offering the lowest price. I would continually give out his name and number should my close friends ask me for a reliable home inspector."
